Abundant Grace
After my trip to Austin on Friday and Saturday, my parents sent me back with numerous more furnishings for my apartment, ranging from an interesting miniature chest of drawers to various pictures for my walls (which are now no longer plain white). Unknown to my parents while they were amassing things to go in my apartment, I already have an excess of storage space for the actual things in my apartment, so much so that I had a set of blue shelves in my living room that are sitting there, devoid of anything on them (although I'm sure that will eventually change). Now I have a dark cherry mini drawer set that sits empty...somewhere (I haven't decided where yet), and an odd white apparatus also meant for storing things that may end up sitting empty (we'll see). I've gone from having just a little extra storage space to having an abundance of it.
Assembling the cherry drawer set (that I don't need) made me think of the abundance of God's grace. God's grace is, in many ways, like my current storage capability...endless (except that the former actually is endless, while the latter only seems such). Just as it may be a year or two before I have accumulated enough stuff to fill these shelves and drawers and odd white things, so it is that no amount of sin is so great that God's grace is not greater. What an amazing thought--that God's grace is so abundant that it saves us and cleanses us from all our sin. And with that in mind, we still live as if we are the center of the world...what a travesty.
