On this our day of rest...
I wrote in here awhile back about the Christian's need for an occasional day of rest. In it, I addressed how God gave us His Sabbath Day as a gift to us, not something that was supposed to be a hindrance. And how we shun his gift by using His Day to work and do other things when we should spend it focusing on Him and celebrating the new life He has given to us.
I've spent a week doing nothing. Aside from my dentist appointment in Austin and the continual hunt for a job, I've done nothing but sit on my butt all week. And it has been marvelous. It's been, overall, very great to really get to rest and relax and enjoy time not working, time thinking, and time reading. The time has been a refreshment that I have badly needed, and I am grateful for.
In the next week, I have to find a job. I'm going to be in serious trouble if I'm not able to land a job soon. And when school starts again in a week, I'm going to be busy out of my mind again and working hard to make time for everything. But I'm hoping that during this upcoming semester I will remember the Day which God has given to me to set aside all the things I have to do and rest in His goodness and love and remember with joy the great things He has done for us.
