So yeah...

Where did everybody go!?! Of course, I essentially know the answer to that question--person A is in Dallas, person B in Houston, person C in San Antonio--I even have one friend who is enjoying cooler weather in Michigan. But that's not the point, the point is: where did everyone go? I mean...they aren't here! I spent today cleaning my apartment and in front of the computer and just generally sitting on my butt doing nothing...quite an interesting experience for someone who is used to being rather stressed out at any given point.

My apartment, on the other hand, is almost completely clean for the first time since the day I moved in. It's also stocked with food, all my clothes, all my books, and just about everything else a guy can need. I'm quite happy with it. I do need to get something on the walls though...they're white and plain and just generally boring to look at. I did purchase an analog clock, however, which makes a tick! tock! every second that is honestly a good deal louder than what I was expecting or hoping.

I attempted to make rice for dinner today, and I found myself full of defeat. The times my mother gave me for how long to microwave the rice were either completely off for my microwave (which is about 50% more powerful than our microwave at home that dates back to 1968 or so...) or else I did something else wrong, but I ended up with rather overmicrowaved (read: red) rice that stuck to the sides of the container and made quite an adventure to remove. But it was rather humorous (too bad nobody else was here to enjoy it).
