Work Crunch
After completing reading of a 630 page textbook that I've now read in full over the course of the semester, making out a long formula sheet for my final statistics test, and just generally being exhausted making sure of my readiness for my two exams for tomorrow, the last normal day of classes, I must say that I am quite excited about my upcoming rest that will occur when finals have concluded.
I have two finals and two CLEP tests, so my Saturday will constitute reading for my theatre class, and most of my dead time will be spent studying economics in hoping of getting 6 "free" hours of credit. Fun fun.
But then after that week is over and I've moved into my new apartment, a week of rest at Summer Conference followed by a week of relative rest in College Station will commence.
This reminds me of the fourth commandment, and the obvious wisdom contained therein. Take six days to work, and one to rest, relax, and celebrate the new life God has given us. Out of the Decalogue, this is got to be the most oft commandment to simply be blatantly ignored. In fact, most Dispensationalists (a school of thought within Christianity that is the dominant belief in Baptist and Pentecostal circles) believe that the fourth commandment has been rescinded and is irrelevant for New Testament Christians.
But I'm reminded of the necessity of the fourth commandment--God created us to need rest. And we do. We need time to just sit down from our work and enjoy the company of our friends. And I'm greatly looking forward to a whole week of it in the near future.
