Overdue Update
Wow, it's been waaaay too long since I've blogged. I think I'm going to try to post a slew of updates over the next few days to catch up. Hopefully, the month of downtime hasn't cost me the entirety of my readership.
First things first...my house has been interesting for the past two weeks. :) For those that don't know, my friend Elli is realizing one of her dreams and taking a bit of a tour of three places in the United States that interest her. (I'll add the link on the sidebar later when I'm feeling less lazy.) What this has meant for me is that my house has turned into a miniature zoo as I've added two temporary adoptees to the growing family of Sneeringer cats. So, right now I have four walking around my apartment, none completely sure what to make of the situation. All four are adorable, though...I've wished I had a camera so many times over the past few days in particular.
Last weekend, I helped my friend and co-worker Daniel, who does properly have a link on the left, move into his new house! He and his wife (Moriah) are quite excited. It's a nice place. We had a bit of an adventure moving him, though, as the hearty truck that Chris yet again borrowed from his father to aid in the endeavor refused to start...of course, this was after it had an impressive full load of shit in it. Thankfully, Moriah's father was a bit of a mechanic and knew what to do, although the unexpected trip to the auto parts store cost us an hour on an already tight timeline.
Now that things have been back more or less to normal at Live Oak, I decided to take a vacation a couple weeks ago. I'd been working really hard and slowly burning out, so I went to Andy and asked for time off...which he granted as soon as was logistically possible (a week and a half later! Impressive!). I got to spend the week mostly relaxing and just sort of getting my bearings back together...something I really needed. I mentioned this to the project manager at FG2 whom I work with, Michelann, who added some perspective to that entire issue for me. She pointed out that it's very uncommon in small businesses to have a good work/life balance understanding, and so the fact that I work for someone who does have that understanding is an extremely good thing. It made me smile.
OK, that's three paragraphs...enough for now...tune in next time (tomorrow?) for my exciting adventures visiting my friend Rob, and how that ended with a top-of-lungs scream at midnight in Waco.
