Slowly Regaining Home
Over the past several weeks, as has been somewhat obvious from recent posts, I've grown a new appreciation for music (religious or otherwise) that endeavors to be...for lack of a better word, honest. Honesty can be found in both a song of rejoicing or a song of grief, but there's an obvious difference between reflections of truth and reality put into meter and rhyme as opposed to a song that endeavors to meld together a false picture for the sake of those looking in.
On a note that probably won't interest much of anyone else but me, I think Rain hurt one of her legs today...not particularly badly; she lost her balance trying to walk over my leg and let out a bit of a meow/yelp. She's walking fine now; I put some milk in the cats' saucer to make her feel a little bit better. :) (Note: Neither of my cats are lactose intolerant. ;-))
I just looked at the receipt for my donation to RUF. It humorously reads:We have not provided you with any goods or service in exchange for this contribution. We have provided you with intangible religious benefits only and, consistent with the tenets of our faith and practice, only incidental benefits.
I hate to break it to you, people down at RUF headquarters, but this statement is retarded. :) Seriously, the first sentence is enough to satisfy the IRS...just leave it at that.
Jess Linnemeyer called me today. I haven't had a real conversation with her in some time now. Yay.
I recently took some time and watched all five Superman movies. I think I want to make another post about that, soon.

It got a smirk out of me. It was a joke at least worth making while writing the slip, if not worth putting on the slip.

My roomates and I laughed at the RUF receipt as well. :)

Yes, but does RUF provide benefits? Or do they provide a place to work out those benefits?
I would say that Scripture and the Holy Spirit provide the benefits of faith. Although I guess you could make an argument that RUF is part of the body of Christ and provides that along with fellowship.

That's one of the reasons why that statement is retarded. ;-)
