Cat Toy Ping Pong
For whatever reason, I've been having an unusually lonely night tonight. I spent the night so far mostly relaxing (I completed the fifth season of Alias), but I have just felt "down" for a few hours now.
It's funny, though, how my cats have a way of sixth-sensing when this is the case, and coming to the rescue in odd ways. Rain laid on top of me for over two hours while I watched TV. As I still felt unmotivated to do much else, I sat by the little hanging ball that I have as a cat toy and started flicking it back and forth. Terra came, laid down a few feet from me, and started reaching up and returning it like a low-scale tether ball match. I actually had a couple tears fall from my left eye as this occured. It went on for about thirty minutes, until I finally got up and moved. Now, even as I'm writing this, Rain is jumping up onto my desk, and taking her usual spot in my lap.
It's really nice, especially when I'm feeling down, that my cats seem to often find ways of at least getting a smile on my face and an "Aww" from my mouth.

Amen, that's awesome. My take on it is that since they don't share our ability to speak with words, they are much more in tune with the language of the world. And they sense you crying out in that language and they respond in the same language.

I completely agree. Cats know everything.
